There were no signs of foul play at the scene or illegal drug use but Bowman had struggled with addiction in the past, most notably a cocaine problem that was believed to have contributed to his exit from competitive skating.
At the time of his death Bowman was carrying 261 pounds on his 6-foot-1 frame.
