$25,000 Reward for Cesar A. Laurean

Federal authorities are now offering a $25,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest of Cpl. Cesar A. Laurean who is suspected for the death of Lance Cpl. Maria Lauterbach.  Authorities have found what they believe to be the burnt remains of the pregnant marine in the back yard of Laurean’s home.

Accoroding to Sheriff Ed Brown of Onslow County, NC, announced in a conference on Monday that Maria Lauterbach appears to have died on December 15, which was four days before she was reported missing.  The body has been given to the North Carolina medical examiner for identification.

Lauterbach filed a rape charge against Laurean in April, however the Marine corps failed to take the case seriously.  The hearing was not scheduled until December while the two were still required to work together.  According to Brown, top commanders were not aware of the situation.

Laurean’s wife, Christina is considered a “cooperating witness” since the murder allegedly took place in the Laurean home implied by the blood-splatter evidence in the home.  Christina did report a note she found that stated Lauterbach killed herself and that Laurean buried her.
