Columbian Guerillas Kidnap Six Tourists

Columbian guerrillas kidnapped six more tourists today as they were traveling down a remote river.

Just a few days ago, Jan 10, former vice presidential candidate Clara Rojas and ex-congresswoman Consuelo Gonzalez were released after five years in captivity.

On January 14, Clara Rojas was reunited with the son she had with a rebel while in captivity.  Previously the boy lived in an orphanage.

The release of the two high-profile hostages inspired hope for an agreement between the Marxist guerrillas and the Venezuelan government.  Currently the guerrillas have hundreds of hostages for political leverage.  Amongst the captives are three Americans and the French Columbian politician Ingrid Betancourt.
