MLB Schedule Friday April 30: Philadelphia Phillies and NY Mets in NL East Showdown, Tampa Bay Rays and St. Louis Cardinals Looking for Sixth Straight Win
The New York Mets are the hottest team in baseball having won seven straight and grabbing first place in the NL East. That being said, most of the damage NY has done has been at home and on Friday they’ll be facing a road test as they travel to take on the defending NL champs the Philadelphia Phillies.
Philly is sitting just ½ game behind the Mets in the NL East and remain the favorite in the division. New York has played just six road games thus far, posting a 2-4 record, and this weekend will be a real test to their strength.
While the Mets have shocked the National League the Tampa Bay Rays have done the same in the American League. Nobody doubted the Rays talent or even their chances of hanging in the AL East but their 17-5 record has wowed just about everybody and with the Kansas City Royals on deck Tampa’s five game winning streak could quickly extend to eight.
The St. Louis Cardinals are also looking for their sixth straight win after coming off a four-game sweep of the Atlanta Braves. Albert Pujols has been getting plenty of support in the lineup while the Cardinals pitchers have done their part to keep the bats at bay.
