An autopsy was performed on the charred remains of pregnant Marine Cpl. Maria Lauterbach and determined that she died of blunt force trauma to the head. The 20-year-old’s body and a fetus were found in the backyard of Marine Cpl. Cesar Armando Laurean who is a suspect in her murder.

Authorities are searching for Laurean who has been on the run since Friday after his wife gave police a note the he wrote. In the note he claims Lauterbach, who was 8 months pregnant when she disappeared on December 14, commited suicide and he buried her body in his backyard.

The FBI has issued an “earthwide hunt” for Laurean and has offered a $25,000 reward for any information leading to the 21-yea-old’s capture.

North Carolina Authorities believe Lauterbach was murdered within three days after she disappeared. She was set to testify in court against Laurean as she claimed he raped her. The pair worked in the same unit at Camp Lejeune.
