Baltimore Takes On Partners To Transform Public School
School Safety Partners spotlights Global Partnership Schools
A new community partnership to improve a Baltimore middle school will use a success formula developed by two former AASA National Superintendent of the Year winners, Manny Rivera and Rudy Crew.
Global Partnership Schools, a New York company led by Rivera and Crew, was selected by Baltimore City Public Schools to work with Garrison Middle School as a school improvement partner.
The company will work in collaboration with CORE, the California educational services organization, to help improve academic achievement, enhance parental engagement, and elevate the expectations of the entire Garrison school community.
Rivera and Crew have shown that results can be achieved without the acquisition of new resources. Their earlier models succeeded through the re-alignment and re-deployment of existing human and financial resources.
In their previous roles as superintendents, Rivera and Crew successfully implemented change by collaborating with community and business leaders, elected officials, school administrators, teachers, parents, and unions to spark innovation and promote effective models that advanced teaching and learning. Their approach is focused on helping schools develop leadership, improve professional capacity, strengthen parent-community ties, enhance student-centered learning, and support a culture of ambitious instruction.
