Two Police Officers Killed in Atlanta Ambush, $20,000 Reward Offered

Two off-duty DeKalb County police officers were killed early Wednesday morning  and their murder has led to a $20,000 reward offer for information leading to the apprehension of two suspects believed responsible for the shootings.

In a press conference on Wednesday Police Chief Terrell Bolton called the investigation a “must-solve crime” and introduced the reward, hoping it would lead to witnesses coming forward with information.

The shootings, which took place at the Glenwood Gardens apartment complex just east of downtown Atlanta, occurred around 12:30 a.m. with one officer dying at the scene while the other was pronounced dead at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta.

Teofil Taut, owner of the apartment complex, had hired officers as security for the 176-unit building due to the high crime that surrounds the area.

Both officers killed had been working security when they were shot Wednesday morning. They had reportedly been investigating a call about a suspicious person when two men opened fire on them. According to Bolton, “they didn't stand a chance.”
