Twin Blasts Inside Somali Mosque Kills at least 30, Many More Injured

Two bomb blasts inside a Somali mosque in Mogadishu have killed at least 30 people and injured more than 70 in an attack that may have been targeting a senior member of the al-Shabab militia, Fuad Mohamed Khalaf.

Hundreds of worshippers had gathered inside the Abdala Shideye mosque shortly before noon prayers when the blasts occurred. It is not yet known if Khalaf was among the casualties.

al-Shabab often uses the Abdala Shideye most to deliver speeches that encourage the fight against the UN-backed forces defending Somalia’s government.

There have been no claims of responsibility for the attack.
