Floyd Mayweather Jr. Picks Apart Shane Mosley, Takes 12 Round Decision in Welterweight Battle

Floyd Mayweather Jr. improved to 41-0 in his professional fighting career with a workman-like 12-round decision over Shane Mosley in their welterweight battle on Saturday night.

Mosley came out strong, using an aggressive style to take the first round and then stunned Mayweather in the second with a number of rights that threatened to floor the 33-year-old champ. Mayweather managed to hang on through the round and it was a different fight from that period on.

Mayweather bounced back in the third round and used a series of jabs in the fourth to pull even in the fight. From that period on Mayweather controlled the pace the rest of the night and landed a number of big blows that kept Mosley at bay.

Like he has done in virtually every fight he has ever finished Mayweather was the picture of accuracy as he landed 208 of his 477 punches thrown while Mosley finished with just 92 landed punches of the 452 thrown.
