Mike Huckabee is Stealth in Michigan

Running low under the radar in Michigan, Mike Huckabee has just now put out ads and hired paid staff in the state. Because Michigan has a solid tie to republicans, although it’s been a democratic favorite as of late, Huckabee has a solid shot – and is feeling food about it since rival Mitt Romney is a Michiganian. Because Michigan is also a heavily unionized state, the fact that he’s heard news of his being their primary GOP candidate is a major plus.

He also has people singing his praises as far as illegal immigration is concerned, as well as most of the major Democrat candidates removing their names form the ballot. Michigan was, at first, not going to hold a primary because a judge had ruled that it would not be budget wise but the verdict was overturned saying that it infringed upon their rights as citizens. This could bode well for Huckabee too, because it stands by one tradition that Republicans hold on to; the Constitution.

This isn’t saying the Democrats don’t hold by it, just that the Republicans seem to be more gung-ho about things like that. However, despite all of these things that are helping, the biggest boost for Huckabee will be the Christians, especially the ones who are of the evangelical type. As much as forty percent of Michigan’s voters are evangelical Christians and they really support what Huckabee stands behind. The fact that Huckabee backed an anti-gay marriage proposal will be the icing on the cake for him on January 15th.
