Plane Crashes at Heathrow Airport

A British Airways plane, Flight 38, crashed at the Heathrow Airport this morning as it was trying to land. The Boeing 777 was prepared to land when it suddenly “dropped” and hit the ground, landing several yards from the runway.

The entire undercarriage was crushed on impact and the wheels were ripped from the plane. There is extensive damage to both wings as well as the right engine.

All passengers and crew was evacuated from the aircraft. Six injuries have been reported. Fire trucks and emergency vehicles surrounded the plane and got the situation under control.

Witnesses describe the crash saying the plane flew in at a “funny angle” before “belly-flopping” on the grass. The pilot, who has flown for British Airways for nearly 20 years, said the craft lost all power when be attempted to land.

Officials say there is no indication that the crash was terror related.

Several flights have been diverted to other London airports.
