Christina Laurean Knew Of Pregnant Marine Death

Christina Laurean says she knew that Lance Cpl. Maria Lauterbach was dead a day before she contacted police. Christina’s husband, Cpl. Cesar Armando Laurean, is a suspect in the pregnant Marine’s death.

Christina says her husband took her with him to meet with an attorney on January 10 and told her that Lauterbach was dead. He told Christina that the 20-year-old slit her own throat on December 15 and he buried her because he panicked.

On January 11, Cesar left his home and is currently on the run from authorities who have a warrant for his arrest.

Police believe Lauterbach was murdered by Laurean. She was 8 months pregnant at the time of her death and had accused Laurean of raping her. Christina said she first heard of Lauterbach’s pregnancy in July but said Cesar insisted he had not raped Lauterbach and was not the father of the child.

Lauterbach’s charred body and a fetus was found in Laurean’s backyard. An autopsy determined that she died of blunt force trauma to the head.

Authorities believe Cesar, 21, may have fled to Mexico.  The FBI is working with Mexican officials to track down the Marine. They say it is up to Mexican officials if Laurean will be extradited to the United States to face first degree murder charges.

Police say Christina is cooperating.
