Christina Laurean, the wife of Cesar Armando Laurean, is not cooperating in the case to find her estranged husband in lieu of the murder of missing Marine Lance Cpl. Maria Lauterbach.
Cpl. Laurean is accused of beating pregnant Lauterbach to death and burying her corpse in a fire pit in his back yard. Lauterbach had earlier accused Laurean of rape.
Lauterbach was reported missing on December 19. Authorities say she was killed around December 15.
Laurean's wife, Christina, received a transfer of money between December 10 and January 12. It was also discovered that Christina Laurean found out Lauterbach was pregnant in July, but her husband said it was not his.
According to the police affidavit, Laurean and his wife, Christina, also a Marine, met with an attorney in Jacksonville, North Carolina, on January 9. The lawyer told Laurean he could be looking at the death penalty.
The next day, Christina Laurean reported Lauterbach's death to the Onslow County Sheriff's Office. At that time, she gave deputies a note from her husband that she said she had found at their home. In the note, Cesar Laurean said Lauterbach committed suicide and that he buried her.
Laurean is charged with first-degree murder in the killing. Many believe that he has fled to Mexico, his native country. Laurean remains on the FBI's Most Wanted List. A "wanted" poster on the FBI's Web site lists several aliases for Laurean: Cesar Gudino, Cesar Sanchez and Cesar Armando Laurean Ramirez. He is considered armed and dangerous.
The FBI is offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to his arrest.
