Bobby Fischer Dead at 64

Chess genius Bobby Fischer has died at the age of 64. Fischer died in his home in Reykjavik, Iceland on Thursday. His spokesman, Gardar Sverrisson, confirmed the news.

“I can confirm that he died yesterday in his home due to an illness,” said Sverrisson.

 

A chairman for his support group in Iceland says Fischer died of kidney failure.

 

Fischer has been called one of the greatest chess players of all time. His most notable victory was when he defeated Soviet world champion Boris Spassky. The match received world wide attention.
