Ernie Holmes Dead in Car Crash

Ernie Holmes was driving alone Thursday night when his car went off the road and rolled over numerous times.  Holmes, who failed to wear his seatbelt, was ejected from the car and pronounced dead at the scene.

Earnie Holmes died at the age of 59.

Holmes was a two time Super Bowl winner and Pittsburgh’s Steel Curtain anchor man.  He played for the Steelers from 1972 to 1977.

Holmes was also an ordained minister and lived in Wiergate, Texas, Beaumont TV station KFDM was the first to report his death.
