Denise Amber Lee Still Missing
Denise Amber Lee is still missing from her North Port home. Authorities searched the woods Thursday night in an attempt to find her.
Lee was reported missing at about 3 pm Thursday after noon when her husband came home only to find his wife missing and their two children alone.
Six hours later, officers arrested 37 year old Michael Lee King, who was suspected of kidnapping the 21 year old woman.
Blonde hair was found inside King’s car, but no sign of Lee was found.
Lee is Charlotte County Sheriff’s Lt. Richard Goff’s daughter. He is the head of the narcotics bureau.
Authorities have not found a motive for the abduction as there is no indication that Lee knew King.
Lee allegedly dialed 911 from a cell phone. The conversation between Lee and King alerted authorities that Lee had been abducted.
The call was traced and police found that the phone was King’s.
King allegedly borrowed a gas can and a shovel from his cousin that evening. He said his lawn mower was in a ditch and broken. The cousin says he saw a woman tied up in the back of the green Camaro as King drove away.
The cousin immediately called the police who later found King’s Chevrolet Camaro on I-75 near Toledo Blade. King was arrested at 9 pm.
