NHL Playoffs Schedule Monday May 3: Boston Bruins Host Philadelphia Flyers while Chicago Blackhawks and Vancouver Canucks Meet in Pair of Game 2 Showdowns

The NHL playoffs schedule for Monday features a pair of Game 2 showdowns with the Boston Bruins hosting the Philadelphia Flyers while the Chicago Blackhawks are on home ice against the Vancouver Canucks.

Boston nearly let Game 1 slip away from them as they wasted three two-goal leads but a dramatic overtime winner off the stick of Marc Savard gave the Bruins the 5-4 win and a 1-0 lead in their best-of-seven series. Philadelphia knows they had a shot in Game 1 and certainly don’t want to waste any opportunities and fall behind 2-0 so Boston can expect an aggressive battle with Chris Pronger leading the way for the Flyers.

The Chicago Blackhawks didn’t exactly start strong in their opening round series with the Nashville Predators, losing 4-1, but the 5-1 pounding they took in Game 1 against the Vancouver Canucks may be more telling. Chicago was outmuscled on their own ice and on Monday they’ll have to find a way to fight back against a Canucks squad that can score in bunches. Those scoring bursts are needed as Roberto Luongo has shown flashes of brilliance in goal but has also shown cracks in his defense. Luongo does have four wins in a row and during the NHL playoffs there is nothing more important than a hot goalie.
