Mitt Romney continues to gain momentum in his bid to earn the Republican presidential nomination as the former Massachusetts governor took the Nevada caucuses on Saturday pushing his delegates total to 54 and cushioning his lead over Mike Huckabee who sits at 22 delegates.
On Friday night Romney expressed his pleasure in how his campaign has been running and with the Nevada victory he took a shot at his fellow Republicans ignoring Nevada, “I love the entire country. I’m not leaving off any part of the country. I’m campaigning in 50 states, not in two or three … Right now, we’ve had four contests and I’ve got two golds and two silvers. That’s a pretty good medal count if you’re an Olympian.”
Most of the Republican candidates have been spending their time in South Carolina where victory has often led to the party’s nomination. Since 1980 each Republican that carried the state went on to earn the bid.
