Nevada Caucuses Today: Clinton vs. Obama

The Nevada caucuses began today as Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama struggle to break the current tie.  A win today could create momentum before almost 24 states hold their primaries on February 5.

According to a poll featured in Las Vegas Review-Journal yesterday, Clinton is in the lead by 41% with Obama following close behind with 32 leaving John Edwards with a measly 14%.

Although caucuses are often very difficult to predict the outcome, Obama is believed to have the advantage since Nevada is allowing caucuses at nine Las Vegas casinos, making it easier for casino and hotel workers to participate in the event.  Obama is endorsed by the workers’ union.

In a rally in Henderson Clinton was heard saying, “One of my opponents said today that he thinks the Republican party is the party of ideas.  Well I would agree with that to the extent that they are the party of bad ideas.”

Obama, who admitted his biggest weakness was that he couldn’t keep track of paperwork, recanted the statement saying “I’m sorry, I thought when you said what’s your biggest weakness you meant what’s your biggest weakness.  I didn’t understand the question.”

John Edwards will not be present at today’s caucuses.  He will be campaigning in Oklahoma instead.
