MLB Schedule Monday May 3: Albert Pujols and Ryan Howard Square Off as St. Louis Cardinals and Philadelphia Phillies Open Series
Two of baseball’s biggest sluggers will be facing off on Monday as Albert Pujols and the St. Louis Cardinals will be taking on Ryan Howard and the Philadelphia Phillies in a showdown of divisional leaders. On the opposite end of the spectrum two of the biggest disappointments in the early season, the LA Angels and Boston Red Sox will do battle at Fenway in game one of their three game series.
Pujols and the Cardinals have a 4 ½ game cushion in the NL Central after taking two of three from the Cincinnati Reds while the Phillies took the top spot in the NL East after taking two of three from the NY Mets over the weekend.
The Detroit Tigers will put their five game winning streak on the line Monday when they travel to take on the AL Central leading Minnesota Twins. Detroit is just ½ game behind the Twins in the division and already took two of three from Minnesota when the two teams played in Detroit last week.
After suffering an ugly sweep at the hands of the Baltimore Orioles the Boston Red Sox return home to host the Los Angeles Angels. The Angels just lost three straight to the Tigers but are fortunate enough to play in the AL West where a 12-14 record leaves you just 1 ½ games out of first.
