New Era Canning Co Recalls Canned Beans

New Era Canning Co has issued a recall of their canned green beans garbanzo beans due to a potential botulism contamination.

According to the US Food and Drug Administration, the beans may be contaminated with Clostridium botulinum which can lead to botulism which is a serious and potentially life threatening condition.

The agency said in a statement, “To date, no illnesses have been reported to the FDA; however, consumers should not consume these products, even if they appear to be normal.”

The FDA says the cans should be disposed of carefully because even a small amount of the clostridium botulinum toxin can result in a serious illness.
