Border Patrol Agent Killed After Being Struck by Vehicle

A border patrol agent was struck and killed by a vehicle he was trying to stop just west of Yuma, Arizona on Saturday.

According to witnesses the agent was trying to place spike strips in the path of a Hummer and Ford pickup during a chase in the Imperial Sand Dunes Recreational Area.

Reports indicated that agents had been trying to stop the two vehicles and became involved in a chase along Interstate 8. During the chase the vehicles diverted into the dunes at which time the agent attempted to lay the spikes and was struck by the Hummer.
