Violence Continues in Kenya

Violence erupted in a Nairobi slum on Sunday in yet another tribal fare-up resulting from the disputed re-election of President Mwai Kibaki.

An estimated 25 people have been killed since the Orange Democratic Movement leader, Raila Odinga, called for more demonstrations days ago.  Odinga’s call to arms resulted in a violent police response.

The ODM announced on Friday that the party would put economic boycotts in effect as opposed to the numerous protests, however, the party stated on Saturday that the movement will continue to schedule several peaceful rallies.

So far almost 650 people have died since the disputed Kenya elections on December 27.
