Sports Fans Find New Social Experience Designed Just For Them

Sports Focused Social Networking Website Offers Relief For Sports Fans

Recently it was reported that Facebook is used more often than Google.

While there seems to be only one juggernaut in social networking these days, there is a new trend emerging in this world.  That new trend is social networking sites dedicated to smaller niches.

Social websites that serve users interested in topic, such as graphic novels (formerly comics), gardening, politics, books, and music to name a few.

One such site is
FanHarmony.  The site is a smaller scale version of the same networking stuff expected from a social site, but unique in that it is geared specifically towards sports fans.

The site has a news feed that updates regularly from ESPN and Yahoo sports that users can read and comment on.

The brains behind the operation, Kyle Sliger, speaks of his inspiration. “I have a Facebook and can’t help but notice my fellow sports fans thoughts and rants get buried and lost under the mountains of comments with subjects ranging from complaining about college finals, cute puppy pictures, humorous videos, political outrage or song lyrics.  I figured maybe it would be cool if there was a separate place we could share our passion for sports and others who had opinions could share.”

Kyle goes on the say,  “FanHarmony is a place where users can communicate about just sports, they can read and respond to breaking sports news and write their own posts about whatever they want.  We don’t censor or have any agenda, its just for pure fun and enjoyment.”   The site has a very simple feel to it.  The idea is to keep it simple and easy.  Users can make photo albums, add friends, write on each other’s fan walls and generally everything else people have come to expect of social networking sites.

When asked where he saw FanHarmony headed, Kyle was enthusiastic, “We are working on a mobile application that will allow our users to access FanHarmony with their smart phones, because after all that’s usually the only device we have on us when we stumble on a few minutes of spare time.”  As is right now users get e-mail notifications from FanHarmony when someone sends them a message or comments on something related to them.

“Everybody I know wants to talk about sports. They all have an opinion about which team the like, or they want a place to talk about a team they’re on. High schools, colleges, rec leagues, FanHarmony let’s everyone get a chance to talk about their sport,” says Kyle.

For people who are burned out on social website over load, that just want to talk sports, FanHarmony offers a sports focused social niche.
