Pitney Bowes Inc. (NYSE:PBI) fell 2.86% to $25.14 after its first-quarter net income fell to 38 cents a share from 50 cents a year earlier. Revenue edged down to $1.35 billion from $1.38 billion. On an adjusted basis, the postage meter maker earned 55 cents a share in the latest quarter.

Principal Financial Group, Inc. (NYSE:PFG) fell 1% to $29.98 after its first-quarter net income surged 69% to $190.8 million, or 59 cents a share. Operating earnings, which exclude net realized investment gains and losses, came in at 79 cents a share, up from 63 cents a year earlier. Revenue increased to $2.26 billion from $2.19 billion. Analysts surveyed by FactSet had forecast 67 cents on revenue of $2.42 billion.
Synchronoss Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:SNCR) jumped 4.60% to $20.90 after it reported a 30% rise in first-quarter net income as demand for the company's telecommunications software platform grew.
AnnTaylor Stores Corp. (NYSE:ANN) climbed 4.65% to $23.70 after it said first-quarter profit would "significantly exceed" its expectations and would be "substantially better" than the year-earlier result as sales and gross margin were better than it expected. The company projected first-quarter sales of about $475 million, compared with its previous forecast of $445 million. Same-store sales are forecast to rise 11%, including a 15% increase at Ann Taylor and a 9% gain at the Loft chain.
Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd (ADR) (NASDAQ:TEVA) fell 0.30% to $59.81 after the Jerusalem drugmaker, reported first-quarter net income rose 58% on 16% higher sales.
