Demonstrators Tear Gassed by Kenyan Police

Hundreds of demonstrators were fired at by Kenyan Police with tear gas on Tuesday.  According to Agence France-Presse, the demonstrators were supports of President Mwai Kibaki.

The incident began when the protestors marched through Nairobi hours before the arrival of Kofi Annan who is to try to start dialogue between the feuding parties, Kibaki and Raila Odinga.

Members of the Orange Democratic Movement have accused Kibaki of rigging the December Kenya elections.  Kibaki’s re-election into office has started a nationwide riot that has killed over 700 people and displaced about 260,000.
