Williams Companies, Inc. (NYSE:WMB) fell 3.40% to $22.54 after it said Wednesday its first-quarter loss widened to $193 million, or 33 cents a share, from a loss of $172 million, or 29 cents a share, in the year-ago period. Adjusted earnings totaled 36 cents a share in the latest period. Wall Street analysts expected earnings of 36 cents a share, according to a survey by FactSet Research. Williams expected 2010 adjusted earnings of $1 to $1.55 a share, compared to the Wall Street target of $1.37 a share. Williams boosted by 14% to 12.5 cents a share.

King Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NYSE:KG) slid 3.38% to $9.15 after it said Wednesday its first-quarter net income rose to $4.5 million, or 2 cents a share, from a loss of $10.7 million, or 4 cents a share, in the year-ago period. Adjusted net income totaled 14 cents a share. Revenue fell to $381 million, from $429 million. Analysts expected earnings of 14 cents a share and revenue of $427 million, according to a survey by FactSet Research.

Garmin Ltd. (NASDAQ:GRMN) plunged 9.50% to $33.95 after it said Wednesday its first-quarter profit fell to $37 million, or 19 cents a share, from $48.5 million, or 24 cents a share, in the year-ago period. Revenue fell 1% to $431 million from $437 million. On a pro forma basis, the Cayman Islands-based electronics company said it earned 38 cents a share, while analysts polled by FactSet Research were looking for 42 cents a share, on average.
