MLB Schedule Wednesday May 5: Boston Red Sox Shooting for Third Straight Against LA Angels, Barry Zito Goes for 5-0 as Giants Face Marlins
After getting swept by the Baltimore Orioles in an ugly weekend series the Boston Red Sox have bounced back with a pair of wins over the Los Angeles Angels and could make it three straight on Wednesday as John Lackey takes the hill at Fenway. Boston has seen their bats come alive and have had solid starting pitching in the first two games of their four-game series.
For some time Barry Zito was considered one of the biggest free-agent busts in baseball history as it looked like his career was over yet the lefty has people taking another look, posting a 4-0 record and a 1.53 ERA thus far. Zito will be on the mound for the San Francisco Giants when they face the Florida Marlins in their third game of a four-game series.
The New York Yankees have been doing what the Boston Red Sox failed to do, beat the Baltimore Orioles. NY has a chance to wrap up a three-game sweep on Wednesday with Andy Pettitte getting the ball.
A crazy series in Philadelphia will continue on Wednesday as the Phillies host the St. Louis Cardinals in their third game of a four-game series. The two sides have split the first two games.
