On January 22 Gino Lewis, Community Relations of Narconon of Georgia drug rehab program visited with fifty children at the Collier Heights Recreational Center. Mr. Lewis presented the kids with The Way To Happiness booklets, featuring Martin Luther King on the cover. The booklet contains 21 precepts that comprise a common sense moral code.
Mr. Lewis reminded the kids that Martin Luther King’s message of non-violence has nothing to do with drug use and everything to do with being ethical and productive as described in The Way to Happiness. This book is used as part of the Narconon drug rehab program. Mr. Lewis stated, “Drug users typically do not know or follow a moral code. If we can get these kids learning these lessons now, they can learn what it means to be a functioning member of an ethical group. They will learn how following these precepts will not only contribute to the happiness of others but to their own well being as well.”
Mr. Lewis was recently commended by Council Member Lewis for his efforts as a Narconon staff member to bring the drug free message to the children of Atlanta. Mr. Lewis has reach thousands of children in recent years. “I can’t stop until I know that the drug situation is under control. I have seen too good kids ruin their lives needlessly because they got caught up in drugs.”
Narconon of Georgia was established as a drug rehab in 2001 and has a 76% success rate (based on a two year follow-up). The program provides body detoxification through a sauna exercise program that helps eliminate or reduce cravings; the client then learns those life skills essential to success in life and the ability to stay clean.
