Sunshine Lewis, Director of Community Relations for Narconon of Georgia, joined 2000 others at the Ebenezer Baptist Church on Monday to honor Martin Luther King Jr. and his message of peace, hope and equality. King preached from 1960 to 1968 at the Ebenezer Baptist Church and his birthday has been observed every year at that church since his assassination in 1968, though it was not until 1986 that his birthday became a national holiday
Other church attendees included three presidential candidates, the Mayor of Atlanta, the Lt. Governor and other community leaders.
Ms. Lewis mentioned to several persons at the service that it is important that the community work together to eradicate the drug abuse problem, “if we are to move forward peacefully and withy equality as Martin Luther King Jr. dreamed.” She was pleased when the Pastor mentioned during that service that he hoped that the candidates in attendance would come forward and state their position on the drug situation so that the “pipeline from the cradle to the jail” could be stopped.
Mr. Lewis commented; “We are going to have to demand that our leaders realistically face the devastation that drugs are bringing to the individuals and ultimately our communities. We don’t need ruined and wasted lives. We need to give drug abusers a chance to get clean and make something of their lives. Right now there is just not enough help out there. Hopefully the Narconon drug rehab program can get abusers the help and education they need before they get themselves into the hands of the prisons. No one plans on becoming addicted, but unfortunately many do. There are too many people suffering who could be helped before their lives are ruined. Let’s remember what Lt. Governor Cagle said here today about Martin Luther King Jr. ‘He understood that life is not about self. Life is about service — and service to others,’”.
Narconon of Georgia is an effective drug rehab program. Its primary objective is to clean up communities with drug rehab and drug prevention. They work with families, community leaders and law makers to achieve this end.
