Fox News’ John Gibson mocked the death of actor Heath Ledger by opening his radio show with funeral music. Gibson called Ledger a “weirdo” who had a “serious drug problem.”
He then played a clip out of Ledger’s movie ‘Brokeback Mountain’ where the actor says “I wish I knew how to quit you.” Gibson mockingly said “Well, he found out how to quit you.”
Gibson played another clip from the film where Ledger said, “We’re dead” before repeating the quote himself. Throughout the rest of his segment Gibson continued making fun of Ledger and at one point joked the 28-year-old may have been suicidal over the presidential debate.
“Apparently Heath Ledger was suicidal and his friends saw it coming. I think he watched the Clinton-Obama debate last night. I think he was an Edwards guy, cause he saw his Edwards guy was completely irreverent,” he said.
Ledger’s death is also being mocked by Westboro Baptist Church. The church announced plans to picket at the actors funeral because he “promoted homosexuality” by playing a gay man in ‘Brokeback Mountain.’ Fred Phelps and his followers have received nationwide attention for their hate of gays and lesbians. They often picket at the funerals of homosexuals and soldiers carrying signs reading ‘God Hates Fags’ and ‘Thank God For Dead Soldiers.’
The church claims that the death of soldiers is America’s punishment for tolerating homosexuality.
“God hates the, tacky bucket of slime seasoned with vomit known as Brokeback Mountain and he hates all persons having anything whatsoever to do with it,” the church writes of Ledger’s death.
Arrangements for Ledger’s funeral have yet to be announced.
