G&G Holistic Drug Rehab Provides a Relaxing Atmosphere

While it is true that a drug rehab program should mainly concentrate on helping a person regain a substance abuse-free life that does not mean that the facility cannot be aesthetically pleasing. Atmosphere can have as much of an effect on a person’s rehabilitation as any other aspect of the program.

Consider this: oftentimes substance abuse can result in lowered self-esteem. For this reason, a person entering a rehab program may have an attitude of “I don’t deserve anything nice.” Part of any successful drug rehab program should involve restoring a person’s self-esteem. However, if the facility chosen by a person has an institutional look and feel about it, with dull-colored paint on the walls and cheap carpeting or other type flooring, and furniture that looks as if it had passed through several owners before being obtained by the facility, this is probably not going to help.

It is true that some facilities do have limited funds, and may also rely on donations for their operation. For this reason, it may be a case of making do with what one has. However, inexpensive things such as colorful area rugs on bare flooring and budget-priced but still attractive wall art can go a long way towards brightening up an area. In addition, even minimal landscaping such as a well-tended lawn with a few flowers or plants can improve an otherwise drab appearance.

When a rehab program facility makes an effort to provide its clients who have substance abuse problems with attractive residence and activity areas, as well as an attractive outdoor area, it may convey to a person suffering from low self-esteem that he does deserve something nice, and the facility is happy to offer that to him.
