NBA Playoffs Schedule Thursday May 6: Dwight Howard and Orlando Magic Going for 2-0 Series Lead Against Atlanta Hawks

The NBA playoffs schedule for Thursday features just one game as the Orlando Magic host the Atlanta Hawks in Game 2 of their best-of-seven series.

Orlando embarrassed Atlanta in the opener, crushing the Hawks 114-71 and it wasn’t even that close. Atlanta once again proved that they can’t play on the road and showed no signs of making this a close series as they had no answer for Dwight Howard down low and settled for perimeter shots throughout the game.

Howard finished with 21 points, 12 rebounds and 5 blocked shots while Vince Carter and Jameer Nelson added 20 and 19 points respectively. Orlando shot 52% from the field and out-rebounded the Hawks 53-35 on the night.

For Atlanta to even have a shot at winning they will need to dramatically improve on their 34% shooting effort in Game 1, a figure that included a 2-13 performance from beyond the three-point line. The Hawks have to be more aggressive down low and challenge Howard rather than hope for big games from Jamal Crawford and Joe Johnson on the perimeter, those two combined for a 5-22 shooting night in Game 1 and another performance like that could produce another 40-point loss.
