Dawna Lee Heising and John Cox of “Eye on Entertainment” on Time Warner Cable covered the red carpet for the 2010 Opening Night of the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival (LAAPFF) on Thursday, April 22, 2010. Visual Communications (VC), the nation's premier Asian Pacific American media arts center, presented AU REVOIR TAIPEI as the Opening Night film at the Directors Guild of America.
The Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival will be presented April 29 – May 8, 2010 at the Directors Guild of America; Laemmle’s Sunset 5 Theatre; Downtown Independent; National Center for the Preservation of Democracy; and Aratani/Japan America Theatre. A key highlight of the month-long Asian Pacific Heritage Month activities, the Film Festival is produced by Visual Communications, the nation’s premier Asian Pacific American media arts center. The Festival’s Premiere Sponsors are the Directors Guild of America and Gilead Sciences.
AU REVOIR TAIPEI is a 2010 film from Taiwan, the United States and Germany. In this wildly imaginative and delightful comedy from rising writer-director, Arvin Chen, two young strangers encounter a cast of eccentric characters in search of big dreams. Filled with humor, action and a good dose of food, it all plays out on the colorful city streets and night markets of Taipei. It’s the beginning of a wild night, at the end of which they realize that leaving Taipei will only take them further away from true love. A love letter to Chen’s newly adopted city, the film recently won the NETPAC Award at the Berlin Film Festival, where it had its world premiere.
Since 1983, the LAAPFF has presented over 3000 films and videos by Asian international and Asian American artists, and additionally features seminars and panels, in-person guest appearances, and filmmaker awards. The festival continues to be the largest festival of its kind in Southern California and is the premier showcase for the best and brightest of Asian American and Asian international cinema.

The Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival
The Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival has grown exponentially since its first edition in 1983, reflected not only by increases in both number of total works and artists, but also by substantial increases in attendance. Initially housed in the then-Japan America Theatre, the Film Festival is now ensconced at the Directors Guild of America and the recently rechristened Aratani/Japan America Theatre, in addition to the Laemmle’s Sunset 5 Theatre, the National Center for the Preservation of Democracy (newly re-christened as the Tateuchi Democracy Forum), and Downtown Independent.
