Hillary Clinton questioned Barack Obama’s relationship with Chicago’s “slumlord” Tony Rezko, who is facing fraud charges involving Illinois teacher pension funds, earlier this week. “I was fighting against those ideas when you were practicing law and representing your contributor, Rezko, in his slum landlord business in inner city Chicago,” she told Obama in a heated debate.
“Today” show host Matt Lauer questioned her connection with Rezko today after showing the presidential hopeful a picture of her and husband Bill Clinton posing with Rezko.
It is unclear when the photo was taken, but it is believed to have been shot while Bill Clinton was president.
“You were attacking Senator Obama, in particular, his work connected to what was a so-called slumlord in Chicago, a guy named Tony Rezko. You can’t see what I’m going to put up on the screen…but it is a picture of you and your husband Bill Clinton posing with that same man,” said Lauer.
Clinton insisted she did not know Rezko and said she doesn’t remember meeting him. “I’ve probably taken hundreds of thousands of pictures. I don’t know the man, I wouldn’t know him if he walked in the door, I don’t have a 17-year-relationship with him,” Clinton said.
