U.S. Unemployment Rate Rises Despite Job Creation Figure Rising

The unemployment rate in the United States rose to 9.9% in April despite positive figures that suggested an additional 290,000 jobs were created in the month, the most for any one month in four years.

According to a statement made by President Barack Obama the rise in unemployment was attributable to an increase in people looking for work. Obama noted that for some time many unemployed workers had stopped seeking employment due to the condition of the market. He spun that on Friday, saying those same people were now looking for work due to the positive outlook and that produced the higher unemployment figures.

Those unemployment figures have been placed at 15.3 million in April, a .2% increase from last month.

While the unemployment rate rose the Labor Department did say manufacturing, healthcare and hospitality sectors produced a number of new jobs.
