Charla Nash, the Connecticut woman whose face was ripped off my her friend’s chimpanzee, has been released from the Cleveland Clinic. Nash’s lawyer tells ABC News that she is being moved to a Boston assisted living facility. She will continue therapy.
Nash, 56, was mauled by a 200-pound chimp named Travis, who belonged to her friend Sandra Herold, in November 2009. She was left virtually faceless and lost most of both hands.
"Ms. Charla Nash has made great progress in her recovery. She is doing well and has been discharged from the Cleveland Clinic," Cleveland Clinic said in a statement Thursday. "Throughout her stay she has touched the lives of many of our employees; we wish Charla and her family all the best."
Therapy will help Nash “learn skills that will hopefully allow her to be independent,” adds her attorney.
