Barack Obama Claims Blowout Victory Over Hillary Clinton in South Carolina Primary

In what was being billed as a must-win state for Barack Obama, the Illinois senator answered the call and crushed Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton in Saturday’s South Carolina primary by a 2:1 margin.

Obama finished with 55 percent of the South Carolina vote while Clinton grabbed 27 percent. John Edwards once again found himself in third place with 18 percent.

At his victory rally Obama told his supporters that the win was a sign that “we are hungry for a change” and dismissed critics who had written him off after disappointing finishes following his Iowa victory.

With Super Tuesday on the horizon, just over a week away, Obama has little time to enjoy his win. With millions pf Americans ready to cast their ballots on Feb.5 the Democratic race could take a definitive shift by the end of the night.
