Gordon B. Hinckley, President of The Church of Latter-day Saints died on Sunday evening at the age of 97.
Hinckley had been set apart as the 15th President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1995. During his time as world leader of the LDS Hinckley embraced new methods of technology to spread the Mormon faith, concentrating on the Internet as an ideal opportunity to pass the faith.
The charismatic leader married Marjorie Pay in1937 and the couple had five children. In 2004 Marjorie passed away.
With the passing of Hinckley leadership of the church will now fall to the Quorum of the Twelve. It could be some time before a successor is named as it is determined through revelation to members of the quorum.
