Polling released earlier in the week showed that 56% of Democratic Primary Voters say it’s more important to select a President who can address economic issues rather than someone who can handle national security issues. Thirty percent (30%) took the opposite view. Among the state’s Republican Primary Voters, the national security capability was seen as more important.Democratic Primary Voters are evenly divided on the question of whether it’s more important to create economic growth or to reduce the income gap between rich and poor. Forty-seven percent (47%) said creating growth was the top priority and 46% named reducing the income gap. Republicans overwhelmingly named economic growth a higher priority.
Thirty-eight percent (38%) of Democrats agree that the best thing the government can do for the economy is get out of the way by reducing taxes and regulation. Forty-five percent (45%) disagree.
Seventy-seven percent (77%) of the state’s Democratic Primary Voters have a favorable opinion of Clinton and 64% say the same about Obama.
Eighty-two percent (82%) say Clinton is at least somewhat likely to win if nominated. That figure includes 47% who say she is Very Likely to move into the White House again if she is the Democratic nominee. Earlier in the week, 58% said she was Very Likely to win if nominated.
