Medical marijuana vending machines are now available in California.
People who have prescriptions for "medical marijuana" will be given pre-paid credit cards to use the machines. The patients can use their cards to access the Anytime Vending Machines whenever they need extra supplies.
Vince Mehdizadeh, owner of the Herbal Nutrition Centre in Los Angeles where one of the first machines is based, said patients could get access to prescribed drugs after hours.
Reportedly, a security guard will be stationed at the machine to verify that the right people are using the cards. The security guard will be necessary to deter fraudulent access to the drug, best known as "weed" or "pot".
It's been suggested that the marijuana machines will become as common as soda machines.
