Marijuana Vending Machines Operating in US

To get the drug out of the machine, patients must present a card and be photographed and fingerprinted.  

“They’ll be greeted by a security guard right there. They’ll slide the card in and they’ll fingerprint in to verify that it’s them,” said Vince Mehdizadeh, owner of Los Angeles’ Herbal Nutrition Centre where one of the machines is located. “A camera takes a picture of them, verifying that they’re actually at the machine. And they get the medicine and move on.”

Eleven states now allow "medical marijuana" to be used. Doctors say the drug mainly acts as a pain reliever. The issue of marijuana use remains controversial.
