NBA Playoffs Schedule Sunday May 9: Celtics Try to Even Series with Cavs, Suns Shooting for Sweep of Spurs

The Phoenix Suns will be shooting to become the first team to punch their ticket to their conference finals on Sunday when they face the San Antonio Spurs while the Boston Celtics try and even their series with the Cleveland Cavaliers after an ugly Game 3 loss on their own court.

Boston came into Game 3 with some momentum after splitting a pair of games in Cleveland but he Cavaliers bounced back and shrugged off talk of an exit to pound the Celtics and take a 2-1 lead in their best-of-seven series. LeBron James proved that his injured elbow wasn’t enough to slow him down as he scored 38 points, grabbed 8 rebounds and dished out 7 assists. The Celtics could do little defensively to slow the Cavs and will need to find an answer on Sunday or they could be heading back to Cleveland down 3-1.

Most people believed the Phoenix Suns would meet their match in the San Antonio Spurs but Steve Nash and Amare Stoudemire have led their club to a pair of home wins and a huge Game 3 victory on the road to get to within one game of the Western Conference Finals. For Nash and Stoudemire the drive to capture their first NBA title is apparent while the Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker will have to dig deep if they are to find another ring on their finger.
