Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick Said to Have Had Another Affair This Past Weekend

Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick was involved with a woman other than his wife this past weekend, according to a report by Detroit News.

Kilpatrick was invited by the mayor of Asheville, N.C. to be the keynote speaker at a prayer breakfast sponsored by the Martin Luther King Jr. Association in honor of the civil rights leader.

According to the report, the woman at the hotel resort was definitely not the mayor's wife, Carlita. The woman identified herself as Carmen Slowski at the spa. The name "Slowski" is similar to the name of the Slowskys, the name of the turtles in the most recent Comcast Cable commercials.

The two had enjoyed champagne and a whirlpool bath together at a cost of more than $500. According to a hotel invoice, the stay was arranged for two.

Kasey Smith, a manager of the Grove Park Inn Resort & Spa,  said she could not "divulge any information" about hotel guests, citing confidentiality rules.

Last week, Kilpatrick and chief of staff Christine Beatty were charged with perjury after it was found that they lied about having an affair. The Detroit Free Press found sexual text messages that proved that the affair happened.

In response, Kilpatrick said that he and his wife had gone through a rough patch, but that they "worked our way through these intensely personal issues years ago."

Beatty resigned from the position Monday amid the controversy.

Asheville Mayor Terry Bellamy is outraged by the whole ordeal, because he has been the center of hundreds of phone calls regarding Kilpatrick's controversy. However, according to Bellamy, he did not see Kilpatrick with anyone but his male assistant during his stay.

Bellamy said no matter the controversy of his personal life, Kilpatrick still gave a great speech. "He did an extraordinary job," Bellamy said. "He got a standing ovation. He was on target with some of the issues surrounding the youth.
