Narconon Teaches Relapse Prevention

Drug Rehab Demonstrates Ways to Help Keep Addicts From Relapsing

The Narconon Drug Rehab Program is designed to not only get a person off drugs and feeling well, but to return them to society as productive and ethical individuals. To do this the program takes into account several factors that aid in relapse prevention, which is the first step of any drug rehab recovery program.

First, Narconon Drug Rehab clients routinely report that the Narconon New Life Detoxification Program helps reduce or eliminate drug cravings by removing the drug residues from the body through medically supervised sauna and exercise. Once the physical drug cravings are reduced or eliminated, the actual life skills learned in the in the Narconon Life Skills Program needed to practice relapse prevention come into play.

However, simply reducing drug cravings does not guarantee the person will not relapse due to life situations that, if unhandled, could cause a drug relapse.

The first of the Life Skills Courses is the Overcoming the Ups and Downs in Life Course. Most drug abusers are associated with others who take drugs and promote anti-social activities.  Often these individuals have strongly influenced the drug abuser to continue with drug-taking behavior.  The client learns not only how to recognize these individuals, but also learns why things may not have gone well for them in life in general.

Students frequently identify specific individuals who have adversely influenced them in the past and develop ways to diffuse the situations so that the influences no longer have any power, or learn how to disconnect from these individuals.

This course is designed to help students recognize and successfully resolve those influences in their environments that have caused them unhappiness and failure.  This is necessary for future stability and happiness.

Completing this course makes the student less susceptible to those who would influence them to revert to drugs or crime.
