Gold companies rallying on Wednesday after gold futures made a new high of $1,240 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange.

Goldcorp Inc. (USA) (NYSE:GG) increases 0.93% to $46.63 on high volume. Sheltered Oak Resources Corp announced that it has signed a letter of intent to enter into an option agreement with Goldcorp Canada Ltd. and Goldcorp Inc. concerning the mining rights of certain leases located in Kerrs Township in the Larder Lake mining district part of the Abitibi Greenstone Belt in northern Ontario.

Barrick Gold Corporation (USA) (NYSE:ABX) is up 0.87% to $46.28 on 10.57 million shares.

Yamana Gold Inc. (USA) (NYSE:AUY) advances 2.55% to $11.68 on high volume.

Eldorado Gold Corporation (USA) (NYSE:EGO) gains 1.93% to $18. Brazauro Resources Corp. today announced that its Board of Directors has entered into an agreement with Eldorado Gold Corporation in which Eldorado would acquire, by way of a court approved Plan of Arrangement, all the issued and outstanding shares of Brazauro and each share of Brazauro will be exchanged for 0.0675 of a share of Eldorado plus a share of a new exploration company created to hold certain existing Brazauro assets for each Brazauro share.

Kinross Gold Corporation (USA) (NYSE:KGC) is up 2.89% to $19.25 on 5.18 million shares.
