French President Nicolas Sarkozy Marries Carla Bruni at Elysee Palace

French President Nicolas Sarkozy married his girlfriend of three months Carla Bruni at a small civil ceremony inside the Elysee Palace on Saturday.

Sarkozy, 53, had been criticized by many French citizens who had complained he had been focusing too much attention on his personal life with the 40-year-old Bruni. With the marriage now official the new bride becomes the first lady of France and will likely accompany him on many of his trips.

Last October Sarkozy ended his second marriage after 11 years while Bruni has been linked to celebrities that include Donald Trump, Eric Clapton and Mick Jagger.
