NBA Playoffs Schedule Thursday May 13: Boston Celtics Look to Put Away LeBron James and Cleveland Cavaliers

The Cleveland Cavaliers went out and got Shaquille O’Neal in the offseason to counter the dominance of Orlando Magic superstar Dwight Howard but unless LeBron James and the rest of the Cavs step up in Thursday night’s Game 6 against the Boston Celtics that move will have been pointless.

The seven-game series started well for LeBron James and the Cavaliers as they took Game 1 but the Celtics bounced back in Game 2 and headed back to Boston with the series even. Cleveland put a bruising on the Celtics in Game 3 and it looked like they had regained control of the series but the Cavs fell in Game 4 and then got blasted in Game 5, leaving them in a 3-2 hole heading into Thursday night’s showdown.

That Game 5 has caused more headaches for the Cavaliers than just a 3-2 hole as questions surrounding the future of LeBron James have dominated the headlines. While LeBron has tried to dismiss the talk the attention has been nothing but welcomed by the Celtics who have a shot at a rattled Cavaliers squad.

As rattled as the Cavs are the Boston Celtics have been doing their part to win as Rajon Rondo, Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce have exemplified team basketball, working to shut down LeBron while making his supporting cast relatively non-existent. Now it will rest on the shoulders of LeBron James to steal Game 6 and force a Game 7 back in Cleveland, something he is more than capable of doing but Boston will do everything it can to avoid that scenario,
