Comcast Corp. becomes the first cable company to sign on. In March, satellite TV company DirecTV Inc. (NYSE: DTV) said it would carry the channel.
ESPN's 3-D channel will feature live sporting games, starting with the June 11 FIFA World Cup match in which host nation South Africa will play Mexico. The channel will also feature games from the NBA and college football and basketball.
Viewers without 3-D television sets can watch the same games on ESPN in high definition.
