Suicide Bomber Targets Soccer Match in Northern Iraq, at least Ten Killed

A suspected suicide bomber detonated a car packed with explosives outside a soccer match in northern Iraq, killing at least ten people and leaving dozens more injured.

The blast occurred at a stadium in Tal Afar. There have been no claims of responsibility for the attack but many suspect the bombing to be the work of Sunni Islamist insurgents.

According to reports the bomber blew up his car near the entrance to the stadium where a large crowd of fans had gathered.

Tal Afar is largely Shiite and has been the scene of a number of suicide attacks by Sunni militants.
